Merry Christmas!

I won't be posting anything new for a while since I'm home for the holidays, but I thought I'd finish off the year with some photos of Christmas decorations in Japan. So enjoy!








And of course it wouldn't be Christmas in Japan without KFC!

December flowers

I haven't posted any ikebana pictures for a while, so here are my arrangements for the past three weeks:

When Sensei fixed this one, on top of adding and moving flowers she rotated the whole thing a good forty-five degrees. It looks much better now.

I like this one because of the Christmas colors. I made it two weeks ago, but it's still alive and well. Which is unusual, because usually in winter having the heat on in my apartment makes my flowers die pretty fast.


This is one is special because it's made with preserved flowers--and it cost a lot more, too. ;) It'll last, though, so it's worth it. Believe it or not, I was not intending this one to have a Christmas theme. It just ended up that way the more stuff I added to it.

It's Christmas time in the konbini

It's Christmas time again, and you know what that means...

That's right! It's time for Lipton's seasonal muscat tea! I remember this stuff coming out last Christmas too:

What's that? Muscat tea doesn't seem very Christmasy to you? Okay, then how about...

Cheese. Flavored. Kit-Kats. The box is even designed to look like a present. I saw this on the shelf and was blown away. What would that even taste like? I held off on buying it, simultaneously intrigued and repelled by the idea. Then I finally tried one.

It tastes just as weird as you would think.
